Ever since Samsung started selling the Galaxy J series, the top-most phone in the series has been the Galaxy J7. However, it appears that the Galaxy J8 might soon join the family.
In early February, folks at XDA Developers forum found a list of Samsung devices that were yet to be unveiled or even heard of. In the list was the Galaxy J8 accompanied by the Galaxy J6 and J4. Samsung Galaxy J8, which is expected to take over flagship duties in the J series from the Galaxy J7.
The benchmarking platform Geekbench has shown some of the specifications of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy J8 specs. It comes with model number SM-J800FN which has recently popped up and while there’s no mention of the Galaxy J8, the model number is enough to give us the identity of the phone.
Some leaks specifications are given below
- Android 8.0.0 Oreo (based on Samsung Experience 9.5)
- Exynos 7870 chipset clocked at 1.59GHz
- 3GB RAM
Although not much, the listed specs are quite similar to what you get on the Galaxy J7 2017. The phone has the same chipset, which is also the same one found on the J5 2017, RAM module and who knows what else! At the moment, the only difference between the two is the software, where the 2017 model debuted with Nougat while the J8 is expected to rock Oreo out of the box.

Last year, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy J 2017 family in June. While we expect the same story with this year’s J series, we still don’t know if the Galaxy J8 will be part of the launch.
